The Problem with Marketing Your Business Online
I have a decent idea what you’re thinking. When I interact with a brand by looking them up on social media or going to their website, I expect to see certain things too. We all do. We want to learn about the business, or to find that specific product, service, or idea that we are looking for. We are looking to fill a need that we have, whether it is to help us grow our business, create the perfect home environment, or just to be entertained.
The reasons are endless, but to be successful in marketing your business online, it is your responsibility to know what your potential customer’s need is, how it relates to what you offer, and offer that to them, without them having to do too much work to find or purchase it. We all know businesses that do this every day, and they do it well, which is why we continue to seek them out, read their content, or buy their products or services.
“That’s great, but how do “I” do it?”
Over the years, our clients have come to us with varying questions along the lines of, “How do I use digital marketing to accomplish my goals in my business?”, “How do I start from zero and build an audience so people know who I am and what I do?”, “How can I get potential customers to find me online?”, or “I already have some customers, how do I use the tools in the digital world to better service them, while at the same time looking for new business?”
The truth is, the answers to these questions are as diversified and complex as each client’s business. Many factors such as budget, timing, the nature of their product or service, and especially their target demographic, will have an impact on what their final solution looks like. That said, there are many similarities between clients, and their are many questions that we are repeatedly asked. It is those that I intend to address with my own website project.
The Project – Answering your questions with a real life example
I always learn best by doing, or by watching someone else do something and then repeating that on my own. If I don’t have the time or the knowledge to do something, and am going to hire a professional to do it, I still want to learn as much as I can about it in order to make the best possible decision.
“Ok, so what’s the plan?”
It is for these reasons that I have decided to use my own website as a real life example of how you might approach, or how we might approach on your behalf, the concept of digital marketing. With this project, I will attempt to answer many of the questions above that our clients have come to us with, as well as go over a bunch of other things that I think will help you have more success marketing your business online.
There is so much to do! Each month, I will post 1 or more articles on these topics and demonstrate them in reality on my own website. I will also share things that we have done for our clients that have helped them, and try to provide facts and data to back everything up. My goal here is to provide a lot of education and to demystify the process of digital marketing. I also plan to have a little fun in the process and am really looking forward to implementing and sharing some of my ideas with you.
