Joe Kantakevich – 1 On 1 Interview
How do you like to spend your free time?
Play in a slow pitch softball league. Hosting friends and family for dinner with my wife, Maura. Play golf a few times over the weekend. Watching College & NFL football.
What is your favorite part about living in the Washington, DC or Baltimore metro areas?
Being close to family & friends.
Living in the city and always having new restaurants to try.
Tell me about your family and those you care about.
Live within 10 miles of my parents, brother, wife’s parents and wife’s sisters. Very lucky! Have been dating Maura since high school. We have amazing friends that live close by that we have known and seen on a regular basis for at least 15 years (most of them either Maura or I have known our entire lives).
What is the craziest/most adventurous thing you have ever done? Or if you haven’t done anything like that, what would you like to do?
I wouldn’t call myself adventurous per se, but I do feel like my career in baseball helped me to see a lot, and that has been an adventure in itself. During that time, I lived in six different places (Arizona, CA, Washington, WI, MD, DC) over two years. I’ve been to Normandy, but I’d like to travel more. A cruise around the Mediterranean would be a great vacation.
The old standby….”If you were trapped on a desert island, what 3 things would you bring with you?
A Sand Wedge
A golf ball
What’s a special skill or talent you have that people wouldn’t know about by just meeting you a handful of times?
I used to throw a baseball 95 mph. I am pretty proud of that!
What do you think are the best things that you, personally and professionally, bring to EagleStone and our clients?
A diverse set of knowledge not only on the portfolio analysis level, but also from a financial planning standpoint.
In your opinion, what’s the value proposition of EagleStone?
We provide a level of personalized service that extends beyond the scope of everyday business.
What is your favorite part of your job?
Being able to help clients feel comfortable with their portfolios and having them know that we are working with their money and how we’re going to help them achieve their financial goals.
